Course Overview
Session 1: Implementing the Basics
We assume you already know what 5S, basic problem solving and visual management are. So the focus of this session is on how to implement…
– Setting the framework for 5S implementation, Establishing daily meetings
– Setting up Visual Management boards, Setting up Kaizen groups and doing a Kaizen blitz
– Auditing 5S, visual boards and daily meetings, Overview of Standard Work
– Implementing Leader Standard Work, Maintaining the momentum
Session 2: Mapping the Value Stream
Understanding where value is created is fundamental to any CI implementation. SO in this session you’ll start by looking at the three versions of a process. Then we’ll give you practical tips and guidance on how to do Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
– Using PostIt notes for a manual VSM
– Using Miro for an electronic VSM
– SLA’s for order to delivery
Session 3: Waste
In this session we will cover tools focussed on reducing waste and errors:
– 8 Wastes, Poke yoke, Tools for reducing defects & errors
– Spaghetti charts, Concern strips implementation
Session 4: Lead Times
The focus this week is on planning your lead time reduction using different tools. We will cover:
– Future state map, Planning cycles, Inventory reduction
– Takt time, SMED, Visual Planning tools
– Customer focus, Glenday Sieve, Kanban
Session 5: Productivity
How do you asses the impact on productivity and on your bottom line?
– Avoiding CAPEX by creating capacity, Andons
– OEE measurement, pull vs push, Productivity measures
– Problem solving leadership, Quantifying gains, Single piece flow
Session 6: Assessment & Strategy
Putting together a framework for a total company wide programme:
– Overseeing a multi-site team implementation, Alignment with vision
– Hoshin Kanji A3 strategy, Lean maturity scorecards, Leadership
