Custom bus recently sent 4 people to Kenworth Trucks and MTM Automotive to see 1st hand how world class organisations have used lean methodologies to set up and operate their facilities successfully.
It was a great opportunity for our team to network and question those that work at both Kenworth and MTM on how they went about their improvement as far as training, processes and employee engagement.
The team was impressed by the visual organisation at both sites and now have clear visions in their minds of what to expect from successful 5S implementation. Both sites were exceptionally clean and well presented which is a sign of well engaged workforces who take pride in what they do and where they do it.
Some great examples of Kanban and U shaped cells were witnessed at MTM who have done a great job at implementing simple but effective systems to manage the work from order through to customer delivery.
