The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood is a division of the Australian Red Cross that is fully funded by the Federal, State and Territory governments to supply the country with safe, high-quality blood and blood products. Our vital work is only possible through the donations of over half a million unpaid voluntary blood donors.
Lifeblood has approximately 3,800 employees and collect, test, process and distribute over one million blood donations each year. The Blood Service operates 96 collection centres across Australia. Collected donations are then transported to one of four processing centres for manufacturing into blood products which are subsequently supplied to Australian hospitals and health providers.
Along with supplying Australia with blood, Lifeblood also provides clinical and research expertise and support in the areas of blood and transplantation.
Lifeblood are consulting with industry to discuss and better understand what automation is possible in our business, and to determine opportunities for improved process design. Once we agree on our strategy and receive approval and funding, we will undertake a more formal sourcing process.
The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood wishes to engage with suitably experienced Suppliers with expertise in:
- Automated product labelling and vision inspection system
- Conveyor systems with capability to scan, sort and track
- Manufacturing workflow optimisation
- Robotic automation
Suppliers are required to register in order to receive the RFI documentation for the provision of Manufacturing and Labelling Automation (Processing Future State) Request for Information (RFI)
