Celebrating Our Partnership with Wheelchairs for Kids
We are proud to shine this Partner Impact Spotlight on our Sponsored Community Partner, Wheelchairs for Kids, whose extraordinary work continues to transform young lives around the world.
Recently, we had the privilege of hosting a WA Site Visit with the Wheelchairs for Kids team, where they shared highlights from their newly released Annual Impact Statement, along with inspiring insights into what lies ahead.
4,787 Reasons to Celebrate
In the past year alone, 4,787 wheelchairs were dispatched to 18 countries, delivering dignity, mobility and inclusion to children who might otherwise remain isolated from school, community and opportunity.
Since 1998, that impact has reached an incredible milestone:
More than 66,064 children now have the gift of mobility.
That’s 66,064 brighter futures unlocked.
Norah’s Story: A Moment That Matters
Behind every wheelchair is a story.
This year, one of those stories belongs to Norah, a six-year-old girl in Uganda who had never owned a wheelchair. Her journey brought together retired volunteer occupational therapist Lois Moir in Perth, therapists in Mukono, and a devoted foster mother who had spent years seeking support.
When Norah was finally seated in her new wheelchair, she beamed and giggled with pure delight.
It was more than a fitting.
It was freedom.
It was belonging.
It was possibility.
And moments like that are made possible by a community of partners and supporters who believe — as we do — that every child deserves the dignity of mobility.
Powered by an Extraordinary Community
This impact does not happen by chance.
- 300+ active factory volunteers in Wangara
- Nearly 30,000 volunteer hours contributed in 2025 alone
- Hundreds more volunteers sewing and knitting rugs and toys across Western Australia and beyond
It is a remarkable community effort — driven by generosity, skill and shared purpose.
More Than Equipment — It’s Opportunity
Wheelchairs for Kids reminds us that this work is about far more than providing equipment.
It is about:
- Better access to education
- Greater independence
- Inclusion within families and communities
- Hope for brighter, more empowered futures
We are honoured to stand alongside Wheelchairs for Kids and contribute to this life-changing mission.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support this incredible partnership.
